The hellish action of Diablo Immortal meets the the irreverent joy of Google Play.
Mobile games still don’t get the hype they deserve, even though they’re now capable of immersive visuals and deep gameplay experiences that rival console and PC gaming. So, when Omelet’s Cheat Code was asked to help Google Play and Activision/Blizzard launch Diablo Immortal — the first mobile game in a beloved franchise that has sold over 100M copies — we knew what we needed to do. Make a mobile game feel larger than life.
Our spot — “Battle at Home Screen” — is pure spectacle. It turns one player’s phone into a wild, magical battlefield. A surprising thrill ride that weaves together Diablo Immortal’s hellish action and Google Play’s irreverent joy.
To bring the spot to life, we partnered up with renowned world-building production company, Impossible Objects, and director, Joe Sill. The animated mayhem was built from the ground up in Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 — composited in real-time on set, then packed with Easter Eggs in post.
The global campaign features a track from K-pop powerhouse, Aespa, who recently made their US debut at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It also debuts Google Play’s new co-marketing tagline: “Your next game starts here.”
By dynamically blending brand tones and giving a mobile game the AAA treatment, our campaign took Google Play’s co-marketing efforts to the next level.
